The matter of life prolongation

12.09.2012       12:00       Day 1       Ludmila

Hello. I’ll start with the reasons which made me start this blog. Pompous though it would sound, this is my confession to God, my dream of forgiveness and great desire that my story should stop someone, at least, one person who is on the verge of disaster (believe me, it’s never too late).  And, of course, I don’t want to dodge, the financial aspect is also important. Better food, buying medicines – it’s a matter of prolongation of my life.

Well, by this moment my illness that lasts for a month exhausted me so much that I hold on only thanks to my will power. I keep thinking, moving and planning my future. My illness started with a banal intoxication. I was hospitalized, one illness was cured, but my organism’s reaction to drugs caused worsening of my health’s condition and a new diagnosis - digestive tract candidiasis. Further examination revealed a couple of other diseases, to put in plain language.

Bone lysis, intervertebral disc disorder etc. But the reason why temperature remains high for a month is still unknown. Many tests are commercial, even HIV positive people included nto the first degree of disability have to pay for them and for medicines. The cost of the medicines they prescribed me is 3,000 soms1. They remained non-bought. I have no money. My immunity is almost tapped out. So, I have to treat myself with herbs, it’s much cheaper. But it’s a usual situation in these last years of my life. Only God and the fear to leave my child alone in this hostile world, homeless (we have no house, we live in lodgings), give me strength to live on and aspire for better future.

As the head of the Charitable Foundation and HIV-positive person, I pulled myself up to come to the meeting with the authorities of ROSPID (National Association of people diagnosed with AIDS) and GORSPID (The AIDS Center of Bishkek under the Kyrgyz Health Ministry). The meeting was devoted to financing treatment and medical examination of people like me at the moments opportunistic diseases recurrence. But, alas, there is no money. There are only words and empty promises. Where is the money? What about the money the Global Fund granted to our country to struggle against AIDS? There is no answer. We will never know it. The Charitable Fund I set up 3 years ago works out of sheer enthusiasm. But it’s not enough to buy the medicines. We got used to it. Just like this…

I hope that in a couple of weeks I’ll be full of energy and ready to live on.

1 Som is Kyrgyz national currency. 3,000 soms are equal approximately to $65.

Rehab programs in our country never work. All money are stolen, all officials are corrupted. No one cares of people like Lyudmila...
It's fucking truth what she writes...

AIDS is no different from diabetes or heart disease. But unfortunately what it still carries is a stigma brought about by ignorance and fear ((( This woman is really brave!!!
