Saudi Arabia spends almost $ 1 billion per year on the drug addicts

22.11.2012

Recently, the report, according to which the treatment of drug addicts costs the state 3,6 billion of reals per year (around $960 million), was published in one of the informational centers of Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

The voiced sources are spent on treatment of 150,000 addicts, who register in the drug treatment centers every year. In this regard, the authorities note the urgent need to strengthen the preventive measures, since the anti-drug work will cost the country less than the correction of the future consequences.

"We need to intelligently combine preventive and treatment measures in order to achieve the maximum effect,” it was stated in the report.
