China continues to fight with the crime by means of their radical methods: recently the court of China sentenced the members of the drug mafia from Myanmar, who had stolen and further killed 13 Chinese sailors, to death.
According to the informational agency Associated Press ,Naw Kham, the head of the criminal band, and three of his crime partners planned and committed the capture of two vessels belonged to China, in the Mekong River Basin in October 2011. Having captured the vessels, criminals severely killed all the sailors on board.
For multiple crimes, the court rendered the maximum possible sentence under the Chinese law - the four members of the band of murderers and drug traffickers were sentenced to death, another crime partner was sentenced to the 8 years of imprisonment and one to the accomplice to eight years in prison and one to the probabtion.
It is worth mentioning that the Mekong River is a strategic transport route that connects China, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. This is not the only region, where some illegal capture of commercial vessels, but also a favorite way of drug transportation by couriers.
