At the World Economic Forum the creation of a regulated market drugs will be discussed

25.01.2013

 - Creation of the world of the regulated market of drugs is the only way to avoid the threat of democratic power by drug cartels - the president of Guatemala, Otto Perez Molina, said in an interview with British magazine «Observer».

Guatemala leader noted that he is going to raise this point at the opened today in Davos World Economic Forum, for the West, he said, the short-sighted, selfish and is not able to objectively evaluate the situation in the Third World countries. Guatemala is in a serious crisis. Over the past 4 years the volume passing through the country of cocaine has increased more than 50 times in the past year it was about 400 tons. According to Molina, the reason for this was the American security services’ operations in the region of Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, which forced the drug dealers to seek new routes of  traffic.

- Punitive policies regarding drug problem proved its failure both for Latin America and for the United States, - says the head of Guatemala. - The authorities can not cope with the drug cartels, which are becoming more and successfully penetrate into politics. We must look for new ways.
